Setting up tee times and pairings

How to build tee time slots, assign players to groups, auto-assign the field, set tees, and move players in bulk.

A tee time is a group slot: you add one tee time per group, then seat players into those groups from the round page. Building tee times and setting pairings from the round page is commish and admin work; a separate per-round setting can additionally let players manage their own group on the day of play.

Building tee time slots

Add tee times when you create the event (in the wizard's Rounds step) or afterward, by editing the round's course, date, and tee times on the round page. Tap + Add tee time for each group you want; each new time defaults to ten minutes after the previous one, and you can edit any time directly. Removing a tee time removes that group slot.

Each tee time holds one group. Groups target four players — a group's card shows its occupancy (for example "3/4"), and the inline add-player control hides once a group reaches that target. The number of tee times you create is what caps the field on an RSVP event: see Managing RSVPs, capacity, and the waitlist.

Assigning players to groups

Open the round page and expand the Players section. Each tee time renders as a card listing its assigned players. To seat someone, tap + Add player on a group's card and pick from the players not yet in a group — you can also create a walk-up guest from the same picker. Adding a player to a group automatically enrolls them in any of the round's games set to "Everyone".

Auto-assigning the unassigned

When players have RSVP'd in but aren't in a group yet, the Players section shows an amber warning card: "N players have RSVP'd in but aren't in a group yet." Inside it are two auto-assign buttons:

  • Random — shuffles the unassigned players into the open seats.
  • Balance by HI — fills open seats in order of handicap index, spreading the field evenly (players without a handicap go last).

Auto-assign only fills gaps: players already seated keep their spots, and only open seats up to each group's size are filled. The buttons appear only when there is a gap to fill, and only on events that use RSVP — on a no-RSVP event, everyone is enrolled and you seat whoever shows up, so unseated players aren't flagged as a problem.

Bulk actions on a selection of players

Every player row on the round page has a checkbox, each group header has a select-the-whole-group checkbox, and a round-level checkbox selects the entire field. Selecting any players — from any mix of groups — surfaces a docked action bar at the bottom of the screen with four actions:

  • Add to game — opens a picker of the round's opt-in games and flighted games. Tapping a game puts the selection in it; tapping a flighted game auto-assigns the selection into flights by handicap. Bulk add is add-only; use a player's own game dots to remove one player from a game.
  • Set tee — shows every playable tee on the course (color, name, and gender label). Tapping a tee assigns that exact tee to every selected player. Nothing is inferred from color or name — you pick the exact tee for the selection.
  • Move — shown when the round has two or more tee times. It lists every other tee time with its current occupancy; tapping one reseats the whole selection into that group in one save. A destination past the group target shows a warning triangle but still works; groups have a hard ceiling of eight players, and destinations that would exceed it are disabled with a "No room" label. Moving players does not break up their teams and does not change anyone's tee.
  • Remove — unseats the selected players from their groups after an inline confirmation. They stay in the event; they're just no longer in a group.

Setting an individual player's tee

Expand a player's row in their group card to pick their tee for that round. Tee assignment is per player, per round — in a multi-round event the same player can play different tees each day — and the player's course handicap is computed from the assigned tee. For a whole group or any selection, the Set tee bulk action above is faster.
