Inviting and adding members

How to bring players into your league with invite links or direct guest adds, and what each member role can do.

There are three ways to bring players into your league: share an invite link, add someone directly as a guest, or let people join themselves through your league's public page with a join passcode. Only a commish or admin can generate invite links, add guests, or change member roles.

  1. Open the user menu in the navigation bar and choose Invite (visible to commishes and admins).
  2. Select your league, then use the Invite Link tab.
  3. Optionally fill in For with the invitee's name — it personalizes the page they land on.
  4. Choose Uses: One-time (a single person), Limited (set a maximum number of uses), or Unlimited.
  5. Optionally set Expires in (days).
  6. Tap Generate invite link. Copy the link, or let the invitee scan the QR code that appears.

Anyone who opens the link sees your league's name and who invited them, then signs in or creates an account (with email and password, or with Google). A new account created through an invite link joins your league automatically as a player.

How do I add someone directly as a guest?

Use the Add Guest tab on the same Invite page. Enter a first and last name — email is optional — and submit. The person is added to your league roster immediately with the guest role, so you can put them in events and enter scores on their behalf right away. Use this for walk-ons or players who won't manage their own account; if the person can receive a link or scan a QR code, an invite link is usually the better choice.

What happens when I add a guest with an email address?

The guest receives an email inviting them to claim their spot, with a Set my password button. Once they set a password, their account is activated and they are automatically promoted from guest to player — a full member who can log in, RSVP, and enter their own scores. No further action from you is needed. If the email you enter already belongs to an existing ForeYourLeague account, that person is simply added to your roster (no email is sent — they already have a login).

What can each role do?

Every league member has one of four roles:

  • Commish — the league owner. Full control: settings, events, members, and every role change, including admins. Each league has one commish.
  • Admin — helps run the league day to day. Admins can manage settings, events, invites, and members, but cannot change or remove the commish.
  • Player — a regular member. Players can view the league, RSVP to events, and enter and confirm scores.
  • Guest — a roster spot for someone who doesn't manage their own account, such as a walk-on or a pending invitee. Organizers handle their event entry and scores. A guest who claims their account by setting a password becomes a player automatically.

How do I change a member's role?

Open your league page, choose Manage from the menu, and go to the Members tab. Commishes and admins can change any member's role there, with one exception: only the commish can assign the commish role. Giving another member the commish role transfers league ownership to them — you are asked to confirm, and your own role becomes admin.

Can people join without me inviting them?

Yes — if your league's public page is on and you have set a join passcode, visitors can join an upcoming event themselves by signing in, creating an account, or joining as a guest. See Joining a league for that flow, and Creating your league for where the passcode is set.
