There are three ways to join a league on ForeYourLeague: open an invite link from an organizer, join through the league's public page using its join passcode, or be added directly by a commish or admin. New accounts are created by invitation — either through an invite link or through a league's join passcode — not through open sign-up.
How do I join with an invite link?
An organizer sends you a personal link (or a QR code). Opening it shows the league's name and who invited you, with two options:
- Sign in — if you already have a ForeYourLeague account, sign in and you're added to the league.
- Create account — enter your name, email, and a password, or use Continue with Google. Your account is created and you join the league automatically as a player.
If the link says it is no longer valid, it may have expired or already been used the maximum number of times — ask your organizer for a fresh one.
How do I join from a league's public page?
A league's public page shows its next upcoming event (or the round happening right now) with a Join this event button — Join & play now when the round is live. Tapping it opens the join panel, where the league's join passcode — a short word the organizer shares alongside the link — unlocks three doors:
- Sign in — for existing members. Signing in never requires the passcode; there is a "Sign in" option right on the passcode step. After signing in you're taken to the event's RSVP page to confirm your handicap and pick any optional games.
- Create account — enter your details or use Google, with the passcode standing in for an invite. You join the league as a player, then land on the event's RSVP page.
- Join as a guest — no account needed. Give your name and you're in the event; the organizer assigns your tee time. If the event's field is already full, you're placed on the waitlist instead.
If the public page shows a "request to join" contact form rather than a join button, the league hasn't turned on self-service joining — your message goes to the organizers, or you can ask them for an invite link.
I've joined this league as a guest before — do I get a new record each time?
No. When you enter your name as a guest, the league checks for a likely match among its existing guests and asks "Is this you?" — picking yourself keeps your history in one place, and "I'm new here" creates a fresh guest. On the same device you used before, you'll usually see a one-tap "Welcome back" instead, with a Not you? Switch option in case someone else is using the device. If your name matches a full member of the league, you'll be nudged to use the sign-in option instead.
What if an organizer adds me directly?
A commish or admin can put you on the roster themselves as a guest — common for walk-ons or regulars who haven't signed up yet. You appear in events and your scores can be entered for you without any action on your part. If the organizer entered your email address, you'll receive an email with a Set my password button; setting a password activates your account and automatically makes you a full player who can log in, RSVP, and enter scores.
What happens right after I create an account?
New users see a short profile setup page asking for two things: your gender and your handicap index. Both help the platform run fair games — handicap drives net scoring and stroke allocation, and gender informs default tee assignment. If you don't know your handicap, the page offers suggested values based on your typical scores. You can tap Save & continue, or skip with "I'll fill this in later" and update your profile at any time.
