If you have a list of players rather than one name, use Import list instead of adding people one at a time. It's the third tab on the Invite page, alongside Invite Link and Add Guest, and it adds everyone in one pass through three steps: Paste → Review → Import.
How do I format the list?
One player per line, in this order: First, Last, email, index. There's no header row — just start with your first player.
- Email and handicap index are both optional. If you're leaving one out but supplying a later field, keep its comma so the fields line up —
Ana,Ruiz,,8.1gives Ana a handicap index with no email. - Commas or tabs both work, so you can paste a column straight out of a spreadsheet.
- Handicap index uses the same notation as the rest of the app: a plain number like
18for a regular handicap,0for scratch, or+3.1for a plus handicap. The maximum is 54 (or +10 for a plus handicap). - You can import up to 100 players in one paste. A longer list is rejected outright rather than cut off, so split it into two imports.
What happens on the Review screen?
Once you paste your list and continue, you'll see every row read back with its fields labeled — nothing is created or emailed yet. Any row with a problem, such as a line that doesn't parse, is listed with the reason and will be skipped; the rest of your list still goes through. Check the review carefully, since this is your only chance to catch a mistake before anyone is added or emailed.
How do I finish the import?
You'll choose one of two buttons, and there's no default — pick the one that matches what you want to happen next:
- Add N and send M invites — creates everyone on the list and immediately emails the ones you gave an address for.
- Add N without sending — creates everyone on the list but sends no email at all.
Use "without sending" if you want your roster in place before anyone hears about the league — you can send the invites later.
What does each person become?
- Someone you import with an email address becomes a player who simply hasn't signed in yet. They get an email with an activation link where they can either continue with Google (using that same email address) or set a password; the link is good for 14 days, and they can request a fresh one any time if it expires.
- Someone you import without an email becomes a guest — a roster spot you can put into events, assign to tee times, and score, but who can't sign in themselves. Add an email for them later to invite them.
- If the email you enter already belongs to an existing ForeYourLeague account, that person is added as a player immediately and told by email — there's nothing for them to set up.
How do I invite the people I held back?
Go to your league's Members page. If anyone hasn't signed in yet, you'll see a banner — "N haven't signed in yet · Send invites" — with a single button that emails everyone still waiting, all at once. Anyone who has already signed in is skipped, so it's safe to use any time.
What do I do if an import doesn't fully succeed?
After an import runs, each row reports its own result, with anything that needs your attention listed first — most often an email address that bounced. Only you can fix a typo like that: correct the address and add that person again, either through Import list or Add Guest.
